+1 Upgrade Per Kill Gear Saver: keep your armor after dying

What Gear Saver does

Normally, every death sends your upgrades back to zero. The developer's description adds one exception: "Died at a high Upgrade? Use a Gear Saver and keep your armor!"

So a Gear Saver turns a run-ending death into a setback: you respawn without losing the armor you climbed to. It is the only official way to protect progress on the tier ladder.

When a Gear Saver is worth using

This is our advice based on the rules, not a developer statement:

• Use it when the death cost you a long climb. A Gear Saver spent on a Leather-tier death protects almost nothing. One spent at Shadow or Prism protects many kills of work.
• Do not rely on it to take bad fights. If you only get one a day from VIP, it covers one mistake, not a playstyle.
• Chasing Fastest Diamond? That leaderboard rewards reaching Full Diamond quickly, so a saver used just short of Diamond can rescue a fast run.

Alternatives to spending

If you keep losing high runs, a better habit may help more than a saver: disengage from fights you cannot finish, and consider a class with an escape or control tool such as Skirmisher, Trapper or Ghost (see classes). Also make sure you have claimed the free code and group gifts.
